Das Seminar „Facets of Contemporary Germany“ - Aspekte des heutigen Deutschland ist in vielerlei Hinsicht besonders: Studierende der Northern Illinois University kommen zu diesem Study Abroad-Programm ins Internationale Haus Sonnenberg im Harz. Zwei Wochen lang arbeiten wir – ergänzt durch themenbezogene Exkursionen in die Umgebung – zu Sprache, Kultur, Wirtschaft, Gesellschaft und Politik. In der dritten Woche ist der gesamte Kurs in Deutschland unterwegs und besucht verschiedene Stationen an der Deutschen Märchenstraße, bevor das Seminar in Berlin endet. Der Filmproduzent Markus Sporkmann hat unsere Gruppe begleitet.
The seminar „Facets of Contemporary Germany“ is unique in many ways: Students from Northern Illinois University are participating in a Study Abroad program held at the International House Sonnenberg in the Harz Mountains. For two weeks students are actively working on themes dealing with German language, culture, business and economics, society and politics. Excursions to relevant sites in the area are included to support student learning. During the third week of the course students are exploring several cities along the German Fairy Tale Road as well as Berlin. The film producer Marcus Sporkmann has been accompanying our group.
