Rohstoffe in einer sich verändernden Welt

Es wird aktuell so viel wie nie zuvor über Rohstoffe gesprochen und diskutiert. Woher beziehen wir unser Erdgas, um im Winter unsere Wohnungen und Häuser zu heizen? Aus Russland, das völkerrechtswidrig die Ukraine überfallen hat, oder lieber aus Qatar, das demonstrierende Arbeitsmigranten festnehmen lässt, die demonstrieren, weil sie monatelang kein Gehalt bekommen haben.
Einem solchen ethisch-moralischen Dilemma stehen wir nicht nur in Fragen der Energieversorgung gegenüber, sondern auch, häufig unbewusst, in unserem täglichen Leben. Beim Wocheneinkauf, beim Kleidungskauf oder bei der Wahl der Mobilität. Es stellt sich also, frei nach Berthold Brecht, die Frage, ob erst die warme Stube und dann die Moral kommt.
Aus aktuellem Anlass wollen wir in diesem Seminar unseren Rohstoffkonsum hinterfragen. Wir wollen uns aber nicht nur mit Rohstofflieferungen aus Russland beschäftigen, sondern darüber hinausdenken. Besonders der Klimawandel und die darin begründete Energiewende, die klimaneutrale Energieproduktion zum Ziel hat, hat große Auswirkungen auf den Rohstoffbedarf.
Wir werden uns auch anschauen wo andere Produkte unseres täglichen und nicht-so-täglichen Bedarfs herkommen und in welchen internationalen Machtgefügen diese gehandelt werden. Wir wollen von Expert*innen hören, was der Stand der Dinge ist und inwiefern ethisch-moralischer und nachhaltiger Konsum in Zukunft möglich ist.

There is currently more talk and discussion about raw materials than ever before. Where do we get our natural gas to heat our apartments and houses in winter? From Russia, which attacked Ukraine in violation of international law, or rather from Qatar, which has arrested demonstrating migrant workers who are demonstrating because they have not received a salary for months.
We face such an ethicalmoral dilemma not only in questions of energy supply, but also, often unconsciously, in our daily lives. When shopping for the week, when buying clothes or when choosing mobility. So, the question arises, loosely based on Berthold Brecht, whether the warm room comes first and then morality.
Due to current events, we want to question our consumption of raw materials in this seminar. However, we don’t just want to deal with raw material deliveries from Russia, we want to think beyond that. In particular, climate change and the resulting energy transition, which aims at climate-neutral energy production, has a major impact on the demand for raw materials.
We will also look at where other products of our daily and not-so-daily needs come from and in which international power structures these are traded. We want to hear from experts what the current state of affairs is and to what extent ethical and sustainable consumption is possible in the future.
